Social Media Consultant and Freelance Writer

As a consultant I work with clients to help them devise and execute a realistic and impactful social media plan. Understanding budget, time, and experience restraints, I provide options for them to utilize the most important platforms for their business and help them monitor success.

I'm also a freelance writer. My marketing background allows me to approach each piece with the audience (and lead conversion) in mind, while my creative writing background gives each piece a unique voice. I've written for both print and digital publications, with my articles reaching thousands.

I'm always open to new freelance writing opportunities and social media consultation requests. See more of my writing here or email me at jenfwright@gmail.com to request more information.

Social Media Intern at Bentley University

My 3 years working as an intern in Bentley University's Marketing & Communications department allowed me to experience the day-to-day activities of an in-house marketing team and granted me the autonomy to imagine and execute numerous campaigns.

I filmed a GoPro video tour of campus through a dog's eyes, managed Snapchat scavenger hunts with mini versions of our mascot, collated a video featuring 24 hours in the life of a student, developed a 100 item Facebook timeline, turned a wall in the Student Center into an Instagram display, and much more.

I also learned about tools essential to the job, such as Sprout Social, Google Analytics, iMovie, HootsuiteCanva, and Photoshop. In addition, I posted frequently to our social media platforms and helped us gain over 20,000 new followers on Facebook, 4,000 new followers on Instagram, and 5,000 new followers on Twitter.

Student Director of Marketing at the Bentley Service-Learning Center (BSLC)

Committee Member, 2013 - 2015

Program Manager, 2012 - 2015

As a member of the Marketing Committee I worked with a team of 3-5 students to manage the in-house marketing efforts of the BSLC. This included creating an interactive experience for the 1,000+ guests at the bi-annual Open House, designing promotional materials, and working with 100+ Program Managers to collect photos from every community site.

In 2015 I was one of 3 students promoted to a Student Director position in a new role created to oversee marketing. That year I worked closely with staff to plan the 25th anniversary celebration, launched a Twitter account, completely overhauled the photo storage system, edited the website, and published a quarterly alumni newsletter.

In addition to my marketing work I was a Program Manager starting in 2012. For 3 years I oversaw students volunteering in the community and eventually created 3 programs of my own: a GED program for adults, a computer literacy program for the elderly, and a photography program for the elderly.

Marketing Task Force Volunteer at the Cotting School

As a volunteer on the Marketing Task Force I met weekly with staff at the Cotting School, a school for students with special needs aged 3-22. While there I helped in their transition to a new website, assisted in the launch of a Facebook group for parents, and offered feedback on other marketing materials as they came up.

Bachelor of Science in Marketing

Minors in Literature and Non-Profit Organizations

At Bentley, my classes took a hands-on approach, with group projects and real clients in nearly every single course. Some of those projects included: presenting a marketing plan to CEO and COO of a national company, devising a new pricing and promotional strategy based on a Harvard Business Review case, and creating and managing social media accounts for non-profits.

As an honor's student I also completed a year-long thesis my senior year entitled Hashtag Activism: How Nonprofits Can Drive the Movement Beyond Slactivism. Examining the online and real-world reactions to four major hashtag movements (#BlackLivesMatter, #PrayforParis, #LikeaGirl, and #IceBucketChallenge), I looked into what made a movement successful and how a non-profit could utilize its virality to further their reach.

Marketing Intern at Technology Business Research (TBR)

TBR encourages its analysts to tweet regularly to promote their publications, but had few guidelines and no training available on using social media for work. They brought me on to create a training that could be replicated by my supervisor after I left.

In doing so, I created a set of resources for analysts, including best practices for Twitter and LinkedIn, how to use HootSuite to save time, and hashtags popular in their field. I also held 3 training sessions and worked with several analysts 1-on-1 to answer questions.

In addition, I ran TBR's social media during the summer I interned there. Through my efforts we saw a 15% increase in Twitter followers and a huge growth in engagement with our posts. I also developed several templates for websinars, quotes, and announcements to help my supervisor quickly post image-based tweets after I left.

Co-Founder and President of Together Against Domestic Abuse (TADA)

In 2009 an organization called Youth Venture came to my high school, presenting an opportunity my friend Joella Stossel and I immediately took: develop a business plan to solve a problem in the world, pitch it, and potentially receive funding.

Joella and I immediately got to work, creating Together Against Domestic Abuse (TADA). We received our initial grant money and began printing informational brochures, hosting self-defense classes, and visiting high schools across NH. At these high schools we would lead up to 10 interactive seminars a day, teaching our peers how to spot an unhealthy relationship and what resources they had available to them.

I also completed several grant requests, securing TADA additional funding to sustain its growth for 4 years. We recruited a team of volunteers to help us at fundraisers and wrote a monthly newsletter. Through our efforts we reached thousands of students across NH, and were often invited back to schools year after year.

Marketing and Communications Intern at United Way of Greater Nashua

The original job posting at United Way sought a graduate student; however, given my experience promoting TADA, I was hired as the Marketing and Communications summer intern.

While there, I had my first formal training in marketing and PR. My boss coached me in the basics: journalistic writing, press release pitches to local media, MailChimp and newsletter editing, and more. I also assisted in the planning of their Annual Day of Caring, organizing a database of over 300+ volunteers. Finally, I promoted a “Corporate Challenge” across all of their social media accounts to  raise $10,000 for United Way.

Social Media Manager at Martial Arts Party Supply

In addition to packing orders to be shipped across the globe, I maintained the company's Yahoo online store by updating merchandise pages with new products or alterations. I also posted to their social media accounts and added Pinterest buttons to product pages to encourage sharing.
